Method of Calculation of Interest Rates on Deposits

Savings Bank

a) Bank is offering rate of interest on Savings Bank deposit as approved by ALCO from time to time: presently bank is offering fixed interest rate.

b) In Savings Bank, interest is payable at calendar quarter intervals.

Term Deposits

c) STDR (6 months and above): Interest shall be compounded; wherein principal plus interest shall be paid on maturity. For completed quarters, interest is compounded on quarterly basis and quarter end arrived from date to date and interest is paid on the basis 3/12 months. For broken period i.e., remaining days after completed quarters, interest is calculated on the basis of 365 days to a year.

TDR (3 months above): Interest shall be paid to customer on different intervals (Monthly/ Quarterly/Half Yearly). Interest calculates on completed number of months and month end arrived from date to date and pay interest to customer without compounding. Further If broken period is less than a month the system shall calculate interest on days basis i.e on 365 days to a year.

TDR (Below 3 months) : The interest shall be calculated for the actual number of days on the basis of 365 days to a year.

d) For Deposits maturing on non-business working day, such deposits would be eligible for interest payment for the intervening period as detailed below:

• If a Term Deposit is maturing for payment on a non-business working day, interest shall be paid at the originally contracted rate on the original principal deposit amount for the non-business working days, intervening between the date of the maturity of the specified term of the deposit and the date of payment of the proceeds of the deposit on the succeeding working day.
• In case of Special Term Deposits i.e., reinvestment deposits and recurring deposits, interest shall be paid for the intervening non-business working day on the maturity value.
• If Term Deposits matures and proceeds are unpaid, the amount left unclaimed with the bank shall attract rate of interest as applicable to savings account or the contracted rate of interest on the matured Term Deposit whichever is lower.

e) FCNR(B) Deposit:

• FCNR (B) deposits interest is calculated and paid at intervals of 180 days each and thereafter for the remaining actual number of days, based on 360 days to a year. The depositor also has the option to receive interest on maturity with compounding effect.
• Interest on balance held in FCNR (B) accounts may be paid half-yearly or on an annual basis as desired in the designated currency in which the deposit was made.

Penalty on Premature Withdrawal of Deposits

DOMESTIC RETAIL TERM DEPOSITS
REVISION IN PENALTY ON PREMATURE WITHDRAWALS WITH EFFECT FROM 01 ^ST APRIL 2017

The penalty on premature withdrawals of Domestic Retail Term Deposits effective from 01 ^st April 2017 as under:

• The interest shall be 0.50% or 1% below the rate applicable at the time of Deposits for the period Deposit has remained with the Bank.

• No interest will be paid on Deposits which remain for a period of less than 7 days.
